Hi Jane, lovely to read an update from you, but sorry to hear things are not going as well as you had hoped. I really feel for you, being in a similar situation myself. I hope you can find just the right cob to give you the safe, enjoyable hacking that you are so desperate for. Lucky is having the winter off, to give us both time to see how we feel about his future. Having now been diagnosed with Cushings too, he is on medication for this. Last night, when I went to bring him in, he had a massive hoolie, galloping round and round the field, eyeing up the gateway to jump, chasing Eddie around etc - very uncharacteristic and he is also incredibly grumpy too. As I stood watching him, I was thinking that lameness aside .... I didn't fancy trying to ride him again if that is how he feels! He managed to pull both fronts off, so when I finally managed to catch him, he came in very sore footed. I am like you, and desperate for a very safe, quiet pony to pootle about on, so I am back on Avril's waiting list, and hoping for a miracle. Best wishes in your search, and hugs for the situation you and Cassie are in, Sarah. xx

Thank you Sarah. I shall continue to do the very little I am doing until something comes up (like a large lottery win!)

Really sorry to hear Cassie's soundness hasn't improved despite providing every possible opportunity for it to do so. He will no doubt find retirement less painful and will be happy to do a little groundwork or simply hang out with his grazing companions. Getting the insurance companyt to pay up must be a minor triumph, perhaps you can invest some of it in a trust for his long term care. I hope you find a suitable loan horse, you mustn't give up, you've years of riding ahead with the right horse!

Thank you Avril. When he is in the right frame of mind, and in the school, he remembers all his training and is great. Sadly, he is not sound for schooling or else I would continue with this. I have applied to the Blue Cross for a loan pone, but they don't get many suitable for riding.
