Hi everyone
My name is Lizzy am 64 and been involved with horses all my life.
Some eight yrs ago i flew down to Gatwick from Aberdeen to view a Normandy Cob....however a young rather nervous beautiful red and white mare called to me that she was named China and that she wanted me !!
China was only in the initial stages of training. Avril allowed my husband to buy her for me.
She loved me but hated my husband with a passion (good judge of character that turned out to be!!!) it wasnt all men because she adored Alick my farrier too.
She didnt put a foot wrong... doing pleasure rides almost immediately as i firmly believe that doing something together gives them confidence and a desire to please you...especially if things go well.
Sadly i started to suffer black periods of depression and she was turned away for nearly 2 yrs. Undaunted we started again and had a lovely time ..alas the depression returned and again she was turned away. She just did not want my husband near her or anyone except Alick. She was very jealous of my Irish sports pony mare and made her life hell too.
Sadly oine day i decided to sell her and asked Lia of the 'other' safebobs to take her to sell.........that did not work out and i was forced to 'give' her away..
Today i was struck by the fact that although I acted in China's best interests. I had not acted in mine
China was i was told sold on.... not as a Safecob because she had behaved appalingly with Lia....bolting with her !! Strong willed mare that I love !!
Sometimes regretfully life does not have a happy ending.....
I have written to Lia to ask if China is happy with her new owner and bonded.
Tears stream down my face as i know i let that beautiful mare down but rest assured she had enough character to survive being in foal at 2 and become a lovely loving girl that i know she is a born survivor. Like me !!
Am trying to start a new life with the love of my life (first met him at 18) who lives in Canada. he was in the Mounties and is besotted with horses too !
Just have to survive the extremely unpleasant divorce and escape to North wales from Aberdoom........
Wish Avril and all of you well with your chosen equines
