Hi guys, Anakin will be 5 in a few weeks time, so thought I would let you all know how he is doing!
He is has been back in work now for about 6 months (he had time off after I initially backed him), and he's doing really well.
His forte really is hacking, he will go alone, in company, roads, bridepaths fields and he loves it. He is fabulous to hack on his own, meeting other horses out on hacks is never a problem, and you can have a really glood blast if the mood takes you! He is also pretty great in company, though cantering in company still requires some work, he gets quite excited at the prospect of running in a herd (what youngster wouldn't!!) and can throw in some pretty almighty bucks! I have been working on taking him out in company and doing loads of trot-canter-trot transitions he is getting better and hopefully he will eventually just get used to the idea.
His schooling is coming along, I didn't do much in there in the early stages as I wanted him to learn to go forward with lots of hacking, but we have been doing a few sessions a week in there since he has been back in work. He is starting to take a more consistent contact, and has started some early canter work, but he needs to establish a trot that is coming more through his back and for that reason the canter work has not gone any further. We have been working with trotting poles and he is getting the hang of these!
I will try and get some pics of him over the bank holiday weekend and upload them
Hope you are all well!!
