Hi there, Can anybody recommend somewhere that I can get a new bridle big enough to fit George? I treated him to a new bridle for xmas, an xtra-full size, and it is too small. The cheek pieces and brow band are fine but the throat lash and nose band, the leather doesn't even meet let alone do up. Very disappointed but certain that George hasn't got the biggest head in the equine world! His current bridle was very second hand from a retired 17hh hunter and really is past it. Erika & George

I'm sure he hasn't the biggest head either, Erika. I bought a an extra large English leather bridle in the recent past from our local tack shop. It was just right for a cob, really roomy everywhere that counts, throatlatch, browband, noseband etc., all in lovely wide leather. The price was attractive too at around £35. I can't remember the make, and I no longer have the bridle, but it might be worth asking them if they still stock it.

Sounds ideal and my sort of price! Just come back from changing George's rug as it is now -6 and more snow is forecast. He stood absolutely stock still as I changed it even though there was a bag of hay waiting on the other side of the fence. Thanks for your help, no urgent rush as not much riding happening at the moment!
Best wishes, Erika & George

Hi Erica & George, Happy New Year!
I had the same problem with Bella- but this was with thw browband- The lady who came to fit her saddle made her a new browband-so perhaps if you have a saddler in your area they will do the same!! It only cost me £5.00!
Hope you are both well- Bella & Dolly are fine but have not ridden for a few weeks due to weather but I think most people are the same!
Kind regards Joy Bella & Dolly

Thanks Joy, that's a possibility, I will ask my horsey friends around here. Horses are all fine, I brought them up to the top field so that they can use the stables which I have converted into a field shelter. Given what I have to muck out every morning they are certainly availing themselves of the facility. I went for a tip-toe ride last Sunday and George was very good. We had to ride along the narrowest of verges in some places to avoid the ice and whilst I had to use quite a lot of leg, George managed extremely well. Might try a plod up and down the road today, but it is trying to snow at the moment. At least the days are getting longer, Erika & George
