Hi guys! It's been a while so I thought I would update you all on little (or not so little) anakin!
I had had him for 3 years in September just gone, can't believe it's gone so fast! We had to move stables recently due to my work commitments but he has settled really well at his new yard and has a new field buddy who he gets on with very well. We are also blessed with 2 schools, an indoor and an outdoor, which isn a god send for the winter nights!
As you all know I started him off a little last year when he was 3, with a bit of long reining and eventually having a saddle on and backing him, which he took to fantastically, and I turned him away for the rest of the year.
I began riding again around may/June of this year when he turned 4, and we did some hacking but I soon had to turn him away as he continued to grow at a very rapid rate. He has just come back to work a couple of weeks ago standing at...16.1hh! Eek! luckily I am accustomed to large horses (my last horse was a 17.2 tb) because we thought he would probably only make around 15h. He really is quite substantial these days!
He has been good so far (fingers crossed), have been doing ten mins in the school each day with some transition work on a long rein, and we went for a lovely hack today. However, I can feel that he is a lot fitter and stronger now so who knows what he will be like the first time we hack In company after all this time! I will definitely be taking a neckstrap!!
Hope you are all well xx
