Dearest Avril and all who have followed Ebony (Briars) and my daughters journey..
This is going to to be the last blog entry as we truly have now come full circle..to a place that was in fact where we thought we were going to start at four years ago..
Look at both their faces in the photo and you know all the time energy (mainly Avrils) money heartache tears worry (mainly mine and my daughters) has all been so so worth it..
We have been working up to Lotties first show for a while now just having fun over little fences building up confidence in each other.. When my business first went tits up and so the trailer and car went too , I never imagine we would be able to get out and about again for a very long while... but the universe is an amazing place and so many synchronistic things have occurred in the last year that infact we have ended up living near an instructor we know who lives just a mile down the road... we use her school regulaly and she has started offering Lottie lifts to shows..
And this photo is of their first ever show together.. taken last night...
Lottie hacks to the yard and I drop her kit off to load the lorry by car and as usual when the show was over we return to the yard and Lottie hacks home..
However last night was special.. because we didnt get back until 10pm so as it was dark I walked back with them both... The moon was out casting its etherial moon shadows acroos the road and the night animals were scurrying about out of our way in and out of the hedgerows..
Lottie walked Ebony on a loose rein both were in that wonderful slightly tired but content place.. every so often lottie would lean forward and hug her neck and tell her how awesome she was and how much she loved her.. I walked quietly beside them both just sucking up this wonderful moment in our lives... the moon shafts of light flitted in and out of the trees raining endless kisses that reflected off Ebony's coat and lit up Lotties face so her smile was visable.. this really was being in the moment and I reflected about the three of us together.. each one of us no more important than the other and yet individually each ones part in the the story so important to bringing us to this place.. it made me smile inwardly as I thought of how Ebony didnt hack and yet here she was striding down the road with such surefootedness in the moonlight with all the surreal sounds and movements and shadows.. she was really at peace with herself and her place in our family.. you could really feel this was meant to be..
As we rounded the final corner I heard Maisie let out a quite whinny to which Ebony responded but in such a quiet almost reassuring way i wish I could understand her meaning because it was full of gentle contentment.. Lottie dismounted and gave her one final pat and whispered a few thank full words and we left her with her friend in the field enjoy some much deserved grass..
We carried her tack home Lottie with saddle on her head and then she yawned and quietly muttered "epic " ..
Avril I hope you read this from your bed and it fills you with joy because without your knowledge and your gift this would never have happened
Thank you to all who have enjoyed this blog we have certainly enjoyed being able to share it with you x x x x
