Hey all
As promised i will try very hard to give you a good description of what we learnt but also the other stuff you never expect but actually always occurs I think because of like minded people getting together with a common cause... in this case the common cause was a wish to open our minds to ideas that may put us out of our comfort zone.. horses being able to make choices and become a partner with us in the relationship building for one.. and also a thirst for knowledge that moved us closer to what we each individually desired for ourselves and our horses..
Each one of us had a story to tell.. a horse to talk about with passion and feeling.. each one of us had difficulties of one sort or another...successes also .. and each one of us had a ture heartfelt desire to reach our horse or pony using the language of partnership and respect and trust building... we each were so different in age situation and personality but we each with our single desire to reach our horses bonded and supported and congratulated and laughed together... it was priceless the experience cannot really be put eloquently enough ... you need to experience it yourselves...
I very much hope 2 day courses become a regular feature at MSC because the first day was centred around the information Avril wish to get across via power point and discussion... this was a great starting point... funnel technique!!! follow drive and base!!! herd language and law... got you interested? I cannot tell you how much the funnel technique is making my hacking so much better....
We then spent a very hot afternoon practising in hand the funnel technique using drive language and Bryn whom I worked with was just brilliant at demonstrating base.. A place that a horse chooses to stand inorder to regroup his thoughts feel secure and when allowed to do this respects his human partner more for their understanding of their need to have this space...Also a big big feature was boundaries they are the foundation of building any meaningful relationship with anyone horse or human!!!
The second day was a wonderful time for each of us to express things that we really wanted clarifying or going over.. softening techniques from the ground... control of the shoulder... working a horse toward the things it most fears.. the one rein stop oh goodness there was so much and Avril just quietly went about ticking off each one and we lapped it up like sponges...
discussions over lunch were sometimes funny sometimes heartwarming and often times very deep and personal I think I was drawn to tears twice! the food as ever was fabulous! thank you Michael....
I have probably missed out so much and am certain if each of us wrote about the 2 days you would then get a much fuller picture but i really hope I have got across at least a snippet of how wonderful this course was and it trully was... A big thank you to vicky and willa for bringing their horses how brave you guys taught me heaps and Helen what a fantastic tent companion and friend you are... we talked till 1 in the morning the first night!
My advice get on a course it could change everything!!!!!! and only for the better x x x x
