Hi I have a 6 yr old fell pony, she is lovely, perhaps a little cheeky at times, I allow for that!!! However she went away to be professionally re-backed as she really wasn't understanding simple things, (I have owned her 7 months) she came back to me ridden but exceptionally GREEN! When I say green! I mean very silly green! She will lead, she will walk oner tarps, she will have ropes thrown over her etc, blah blah blah but if a leaf blows she goes into panic mode! I have not ridden her as I feel my confidence is not really ready for this yet!!! But I do take her in the school as often as I can and lunge, do all sorts of desentistisng with her, she takes it all in her stride, then we come out the school and a leaf blows and it's all forgotten! Do I just keep doing what I'm doing!? I haven't attempted going out on the road as I'm unsure how she will react, and more importantly how I will cope in those circumstances! Please don't tell me to give her up, she's a sweet girl and is not nasty, she just needs more time, I suppose I need someone to tell me I'm doing the right thing with her! She lives here at home with me, with my other ponies who are all happy and relaxed, how else can I get her to become more relaxed! Or do you feel she is just not 100% happy in her new home! I will just say she has improved, but it's the silliness I can't get my head round. Is this a normal procedure for a pony of this age? And how else can I help her? Thanks in advance. X
