Hi, Just thought i would mention. Sula had her shoes done today and as i mentioned once before, she was shod in the stable as it was raining and was just so unsettled. She had to end up having them finished out side. However, today she stood absolutely good as gold. Jo was with her and she said she was very relaxed and happy. Just goes to show how different things can be. I'm sure part of the reason is she is very very settled, happy and we know her so much more that the last time. What a lovely girl !

I've been following your journey with Sula even before she came to you through the course video, and it's so heartening to know it's turned out so well for all of you. Thank you for sharing with us Sharon.

Hi All, so sorry i haven't been following everything on the forum but life is mad. I wanted to let Avril no how things are with me jo and sula but i thought it would sound very self indulgant to just post an update on the forum when i haven't been on for so long so i was going to email her direct. Then i thought that was silly, i could just let you all no how things are for us.

I cant't believe how inept i am with a computer, just pressed enter by mistake. That would have been my shortest post ever! Anyway things with us are still good. Over the past 6 months or so my rides have become soo much more adventurous. Many thanks to a girl called Amy who bought half of the gorgeous Claude when her was sold (in fact jo bought the other half just to make sure he stayed at the yard, he really is that lovely!) we have been going from strength to strength with sula. It started off with more rides out over the south downs, they became longer and longer untill now we regularly go on 4 hour hacks. Our favourite thing to do is just follow our noses and see where we end up. Sula has never let me down, my relationship with her is just incredible. We have amazing gallops along the downs with a panoramic view of the sea, and country side in every direction. Weve been up there at half 7 on a warm summers morning and there really is just nothing to match it. I regularly take her out on my own for long hacks and when its just the 2 of us it is the most relaxing and peacefull feeling. She seems to trust me and will actually rely on me to get her through some slightly unnerving situatons ie, a farm yard full of very noisy animals with a huge barn full of grain being fed very loudly through machinery of some sort and flying into a pile. Add to that some very large farm vehicles all coming through at once and you get the picture. She just becomes a little hesitant and looky but all i have to do is keep my leg on and encourage her forward and she responds so sweetly. She just listens and takes us through. However my best and most interesting ride has to be down to the beach. Its a 4 and a half hour round trip. It takes in an underpass going beneath a very busy dual carriageway, an incredibly bust dual carriageway that is the main road out of worthing ( this has a dedicated horse crossing with an actual green horse/ red horse set of lights, and a busy village with plenty of buses, vans and a railway crossing! in fact when we aproached the train crossing the lights started flashing and the gates came down . Sula stood completely still, with a double decker bus behind her and 2 cars infront of her, as the train sped past. There is no passenger station there so they don't slow down. She was amazing. When i walked her across the actual lines she just looked a bit suspisiously at her feet and that was it. We then went through the rest of the village with buses and lorries all around. |She didn't put a foot wrong, just needing a bit of encouragement occasionaly. I actually joked that it was like riding a police horse! Once on the beach she coped with the stones brilliantly and on the sand we had a lovely canter. I even managed to get her into the sea, although she certainly needed some leg and encouragement for that. Once in she relaxed and was fine. Well that should bring you up to date! I have to say i cant imagine ever having been without her. I spend a lot of time just 'being' with her. I will take my breakfast up to the yard, make a cup of tea and then sit in her stable with her quietly as she munches on some hay. IWhen i'm with her i can honestly say everything else dissapears, time goes by un noticed and i feel soooo happy. Cant ask for much more can i. Yet again i find myself appologising for the gushing, what can i say it's just how she makes me feel. I completely adore her and in her own reserved way i think she thinks i'm ok too. Well autumn is here and that means darker nights and less riding but it also means more time spent on the ground looking after her and that is just as good. Thankyou Avril once again, Sula is everything you said and more. I'm just so grateful for her. Best wishes to all, i do pop in and catch up from time to time. xxxxxx

Sounds like you have a great partnership with Sula ... and I know exactly what you mean about just sitting there and listening to them munching hay - its like meditation - it really takes all of your worries away and make you feel happy inside!

Hi Sharon There are some fab easy to follow instructions in one of the Crispin threads. Sorry not sure exactly where. They were written by Emma and I was able to follow them despite being very new to this. Plan to try again soon. It would be lovely to see some pics of Sula Good luck Angela

Hi Sharon As Angela said, Em kindly wrote how to put photos on the forum when I was trying how to work out how to put on photos of Crispin. These are her instructions: Hi Karen Here goes explaining the photo stuff.. 1. go to www.photobucket.com2.create an account using your email and a password and then choose username(it is free) then log in 3.after you log in you will see on the photobucket homepage taskbar a green icon which has UPLOAD NOW written in it 4. press this icon 5. it will now take you to a page that has another green icon which has select photos and videos in it.... on the left hand side it has a drop down bar for you to choose where to up load your photos from... if they are on your computer then select computer and press the green icon 6. photobucket will take you to your pictures and you just click on the ones you wish to upload 7. once they are uploaded if you put the curser over one of your photos that are now on your photobucket page you will see it has a drop down list 8. if you click on edit it will take you to a page with the photo where you can resize it or decorate it (for the forum page medium or small size works well) 9.after going through the editing process you now pass the curser over the picture again and when the menu drops down you cllick on the IMG code and it will say copied 10 go to the forum write your post the right click your mouse it will show a drop menu ..left click on paste .. (this will copy the img code of your picture) 11. when you put your post up the picture will appear... Hope this helps it sounds complicated but it really isnt .. if you need more help let me know em x x As Emma says, it sounds complicated but once you have done it once or twice it is really easy. Your post was really uplifting to read, so glad it is going well for you and Sula, she sounds a gorgeous girl. I loved the sound of the horse crossing also, with the red and green horse lights! Best wishes Karen
