Gillybou, Which French stud website were you looking at? I haven't a clue about George's breeding, I just assumed that he was some sort of "Heinz 57". I would love to know more about him. Erika

Hi Erika I think I missed this post and didn't reply - sorry. Here is the address of the French web site. www.haras-nationaux.fr/utilitaires/moteurs-de-recherche/chevaux-et-poulains.html You then just type in George's real name and see what comes up. If he does appear, you will need to register for 24 hours for 3 euros and then you can get the more information, if there is any, on his breeding and progeny. Some of the site comes up in English but not much. I did mine last year and cannot remember quite how to do it but it didn't seem too difficult. When you register, they then send you an email which you have to respond to to verify yourself - then you have access to the site for 24 hours. Jane (hobbyhorse) has gone through the process recently so would no doubt be able to help more if you get stuck! I'd love to know if you find out anything. They did have a contact page and I believe they got back to Jane when she sent them a message. Gilly

Hello Avril and forum members and a Happy New Year to you all. It's a rather wet and miserable day here so I thought I'd send an Olga update, given that perhaps a couple of years have passed since I last wrote. Well, what a shock to discover my last update was in fact FIVE years ago! Says it all really doesn't it (re. time flying, fun, age, etc!)
Olga is now rising 15. I can't believe I've just typed that. I've been so, so fortunate in that, apart from a hoof abscess which caused a fleeting spell of lameness four years ago, she has remained as fit as a fiddle. She continues to absolutely adore her Autumn/Winter hunting followed by the less adrenalin-filled Spring/Summer pleasure/charity/hunt rides which carry us through to the next hunt season. In her younger years we dabbled in local dressage and SJ events to continue her training but since she's never been an 'arena-minded’ mare she now just gets schooled as a matter of course when we're hacking out and about. She’s a superb hacking horse, takes virtually every situation in her stride and is so comfy we can hack for hours – and do so.
In the summer of 2015 we made the sad decision to say goodbye to our old mare after 26 years of ownership. Approaching 30, arthritis was making life too hard for her. With Olga still in her prime we decided to rehome a WHW pony mare as a non-ridden companion rather than to purchase a second ridden horse. This proved a good move as we now have the most perfect young pony who doesn’t fuss when Olga goes out for the day, is very independent, stands up to Olga when she needs to and has an endearing temperament to boot. THE perfect companion and most importantly, Olga loves her.
I shall leave you with some photos of them both, hopefully linked but if they appear super-sized, apologies in advance!
Hope everything is going well at MySafeCobs and that winter isn’t proving too onerous. Spring is just around the corner! Hurrah!

Thank you for your lovely update on the one and only Olga. Curiously I was thinking about her about a week ago. For some reason she slipped into my mind as I was scrubbing buckets! You are clearly a great team and partnership, may it continue for many more years. We wish you both another wonderful year of fun and comfy hacking. All our best, Avril
